Ready for spring

Hello everybody! I'm back with another fashion-related post this time. Currently in Toronto, the sun has been very good to us, giving out a generous amount of light and warmth (I hope it's not too soon to say). Winter is coming to an end and spring is just around the corner. I would like to give you some tips on how to transition from a dreary winter to a fabulous spring!

For today's outfit, I chose an almost-flourescent orange circle skirt and a dichromatic printed cropped top, coupled with a white leather jacket for extra coverage.

The cropped top has a slight turtleneck because the weather is still a bit chilly, so I thought it would still help to keep you warm when the wind blows. I know, I know, cropped tops are so last year. But I don't doubt its comeback this spring.

I chose to incorporate a colourful skirt to take our minds off the dreadful, colourless winter these past few months. It sits right on your waist and you could even fold the top over once if you dare to bare your midriff area.

The studded detailing on the leather jacket, I think, seals everything off and gives the entire outfit an extra notch.

Accessories. I personally don't like to bunch accessories because I'm not very big on that. But you could always be creative and show your personality through these little but significant details.

Here I chose to feature my "Odette" bracelet set for a pop colour, as well as a colour-blocking effect with the bright orange.

Also, I added a straw fedora to emphasize spring!!

I kept it simple with the bag - Chanel-inspired quilted flap with gold chain. It adds a touch of class to this casual assemble.

That little perfume bottle I have there is Sugar Lychee by Fresh and it smells H.E A V E N L Y. If heaven had a scent, it would be that. The name rings true to its scent. It's a combination of fruity and sweet, with no musky undertone, which is perfect for daytime spring! I suggest you run to your nearest Sephora store right now and give it a good, long, reflective sniff. Right. Now.

SHOES!! Let your imagination flow. For me, being a 5'2 girly girl always means heels. I ADORE some good, ol' classic black pumps. They are a staple in every girl's closet and you can never have too many of them (I'm obsessed)!

You could also get on the sporty side and rock some white, low-top Converse, which I love as well.

That's it for this post, folks. I hope that gave you some ideas on how to start off this spring strong and sweet. I'm hoping to be doing this kind of posts more often in the future.
Catchya later!

Much love,
HT xx

First for Fashion

Hi everyone, super delayed post here, but I hope everybody's having a great year of 2014 so far. As you can see from the photos, I'm starting a new series for a newfound love that is fashion. I promise you I'm not a bandwagoner (no justification here, whatsoever). Anyway, I thought I'd share with you my daily fashion and beauty picks. Please keep in mind that I'm still a novice at this ☺️☺️.

Let's jump into it!

This is my outfit to church tomorrow. Now let's dissect it, shall we?

- Perfume is the original Burberry, which I believe has been discontinued :(

God's Grace: My testimony

I have never considered myself "rich". My family has never had any surplus of money that we could lavishly spend on ourselves. Our finance has always been marginally sufficient to provide for our family's needs until this present day. In this blog post, I intend to tell you a story of my own life experience. Sometimes in the midst of various simultaneous occurrences, we may not be paying attention to what is going on. It is as if we are getting by in a breeze without truly realizing what is happening around us – to us. At least that's what it was like with me. So now I'd just like to take the next several hours to write and reminisce on my past.

I'm going to first describe my family's background in Canada, from the time before we got here up to our current life. I can barely recall the exact situation(s), but here is how the story goes. Warning: what you are about to read is a true story, not a mere fabrication.

Jakarta. It was the morning of a summer month, sometime in 2002 (sorry for my lack of memory). I remember getting myself ready in a pretty, classy-girl-type purple dress with matching shoes. My parents were anxious to get my brother and I to appear as sophisticated as possible. In spite of my parents' obvious agitation, I couldn't care less to know where we were going. My parents spoke of a very important interview we had to attend, but all I knew was how important it was for us to make it to the place on time, as the person we had an appointment with would not like it if we came late. Mind you, I was eleven and my brother was only seven years old. We were moody and upset with all the morning ruckus that had interrupted our good night sleep.

Late night/early morning musing

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
- John F. Kennedy

I was in the middle of chowing down the second slice of Hawaiian pizzas I had for dinner when I was reminded of an incident that happened a few months ago.

Back in January this year, a club organization on my campus called Campus for Christ held a conference event with a Vietnam War survivor named Kim Phuc. She had miraculously managed to stay alive through a brutal war that stole the lives of millions of people, despite the cost on her physical appearance, which has now become a permanent scar that remains for the rest of her life. Kim Phuc came to speak about how she found the hope that led her to be able to forgive the people who attacked and bombarded her village, her home - her life.
